Bela Crkva and its surrounding area was first settled in the stone age. Human settling continued through different time periods after the stone age, settlements and different archeological locations exist from the bronze and iron age.
Cultural groups that settled or were passing through the Bela Crkva area indlude: Thracians, Celts, Skits and Dacians.
The area was ruled during the different time periods by the Romans, Sarmatians, Goths, Avars, Slovens, Hungarians, Turks and Austrians.
All the changes of cultures and rulers led to many archeological sites, which are located around: the river Nera, the Jaruga, Karas river, besides the "dead" Karas canal, the Danube-Tisa-Danube channel, in the area of Deliblato sands, Danube river, and locations around populated cities and in the cities which are not thoroughly explored and publicated.
There are many archeological sites in the Bela Crkva area, the most important sites are:
-Banatska Palanka and the area between Jasenovo and Oresac, this location features Neolithic period archeological sites;
Bronze age archeological sites include:
-Old powder mill, the location is now the city landfill,
-Dolic stream near Crvena Crkva,
-Dupljaja, the location where the famous Dupljaja cart was found,
-Sigel's brickworks, a multilayered site which is located in the city of Bela Crkva
-Gates of infinity are located in Stara Palanka and all the cultures of the past were present on this location, starting from the stone ages untill today.
