Bela Crkva Lakes
Like a bulk of pearls, Bela Crkva lakes lure visitors with beauty. Each of the lakes holds a charm of its own. Some come for a hidden and quiet beach, some for fun and good entertainment, anglers for "two meters" fishes, surfers and sailors for the wind.... and children, begging mommies and daddies or just "5 minutes" in the water.
With it's 7 lakes, Bela Crkva is called the city of lakes. In 1904. began the excavation and exploitation of gravel in the area of Bela Crkva. Extraction of gravel for industrial purposes resulted in creation of artificial lakes, which now represent one of the main attractions of the municipality.
Bela Crkvan lakes are characterized by stable coastal lines and a slight variation in water surface levels. The morphology and thermal properties are suitable for development of recreational tourism, excursions, events and sports tourism, and because of the wealth of fish stocks and ornithological fauna, Bela Crkva has great potential for development of fishing and bird watching tourism.
Due to the high degree of heterogeneity of its components a large number of species is present, from those whose habitats are waters, meadows and forests, to those that are part of the urban ecosystem.
Everything written above creates a sense of uniqueness, diversity and attractiveness of the landscape. Bela Crkva lakes, because of their characteristics, are often called the pearl necklace of Banat. Lakes leans on the urban area of Bela Crkva and complement the tourist offer of Deliblato sands. The most popular of these lakes are City Lake, Vračevgajsko lake, Šaransko lake and Šljunkara lake. Other lakes are not urbanized and are a paradise for divers and passionate fishermen, who are the majority of the visitors of these lakes.
City Lake
City lake stretches along the left side of the road for Kovin, along the western perimeter of Bela Crkva. On the north side there is a concrete coastline with gentle transition to a greater depth above which there is a restaurant, "Jezero". In an extension of about 300 meters, there are bungalows with 66 beds. The average depth of water is 3 meters, and during rain season, the maximum water level does not exceed 6.5 meters. In the southeastern part of the lake there is a 80 meters long gravel beach, which visitors frequent because of the proximity of water for swimming, diving, water polo and dive board. Directly behind the east coast the auto-camp is located, with 250 spots, as well as holiday resorts (villas and apartments registered from two to four stars). In the past ten years investments have been made in improving tourist facilities on the shores of the lake. Featuring complete infrastructure, there are two toilets one of which is within the auto camp, showers with hot water, walking and jogging trail around the entire lake with a night light, which is perfect for night walks, restaurants, bars with a range of desserts (ice cream, pancakes, donuts ...), fast food, souvenir shop, on the main beach you can lease umbrellas and chairs, pedal boats, or go scuba diving. There are also water sports competitions (water polo matches, sailing regattas, Vidovdanski marathon). For fishing enthusiasts there is the possibility of fishing on the lake, and a lifeguard service. Nightlife partying in cafes around the lake or on a boat which feature famous singers and DJs. On the coast there is accommodation in the form of bungalows and apartments, as well as registered auto camps. Near the lake there are tennis courts, a basketball court and a children's playground.
